COVEY 264 Captain George Bedrossian was an Air Force FAC flying out of Danang, Vietnam, as a navigator in an O-2 aircraft. George was born of Peter and Ebraxee Bedrossian in 1939, and attended Central High School in Providence, RI. He graduated as a member of the National Honor Society, then enrolled in Providence College, where he remained until 1962, when he joined the Air Force. While in Sacramento, CA, George married Glenda Bedrossian. In March of 1968, he shipped out to Vietnam. In the early morning of May 9th, 1968, he and his pilot, Major Robert Staley, were departing from Ubon AB, Thailand, for a mission over Southern Laos. Immediately after take-off they lost an engine at 200 feet AGL and crashed about 2000 feet from Ubon's runway. The O-2 exploded on impact at 0207 Thailand time. For 35 years, George has been forgotten. Today, a fellow Rhode Islander is remembering him. Dedicated to George and to all the Covey FACs lost in the Vietnam War.
