Don, It has been 37 years since we saw each other last. I think it must have been when we went to Hong Kong together on R&R. Remember the trouble we got into in Cam Ranh Bay the night before we left? But once we got to Hong Kong we had the time of our lives. I always thought you ended up back in Rochester after the Army. I never talked much about Nam when I came back until I happened to make contact with one of the guys that we were in AIT with about 10 years ago. As we were corresponding by computer he happened to say he had gone to Rochester to meet your Parents. He said you volunteered for a second tour in Nam in 1968 and were killed when you went back. I can't tell you the pain I felt in my heart when I heard about your death all those years later. We had made it through Nam the first time, why did you have to go back? Why can't you be in Rochester now and I could come and visit you and we talk about all the crazy things we did together. I think about you often when I think of Nam. You and Pete Keller and the other guys that did not come back. Rest in peace, my friend, till the day we meet again. Your friend Jim |
