The official Army Casualty Report states: "Individual died as a result of renal failure...cerebral infarction due to carotid thrombosis... Individual was admitted to a military hospital , placed on the Very Serious Injured list and later expired.
SP4 Burton was postumously awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorius Service along with his other medals from his Vietnam Service as noted below.
