The database page for Rell Crigger, Jr
I came to this page to look for this man's name. It wasn't here, so I will post it. He was my mother's friend when they were kids. Last night we watched the movie "We Were Soldiers". After watching the movie it made me want to learn about the Vietnam War and the men and women who served. I have been to a few sites and have learned many things about this war and the men and women who served in it. We all have to remember they were there because they had to be. Do NOT judge these men and women for serving a cause that they thought to be right.
From a friend's son, |
I remember when they brought Rell Junior back to Williamson, WV, to be buried. His funeral was at his parents' house on Peter Street. His coffin was unusual, in that his body was sealed in the coffin by a piece of glass; the coffin was maroon and looked to be very expensive. It seemed that everyone in town came to the funeral; people were lined up on the street. He received a military funeral; it has been the only 21 gun salute I have ever witnessed. They say he died a hero.
