My thoughts in Memorium, |
I first met Dick in summer 1967 at Fort Benning. He was easy to like. His Ranger buddy Bill Wilkinson and I were later in the 197th Inf Bde at Benning, and we occasionally visited Dick's parents Herbert and Martha Fox and sister Mary Ann in Atlanta. Soon enough, we were two of the three 2LTs to serve as Dick's pallbearers. Sadly, I've long forgotten the name of the third officer, a college classmate of Dick's, but two months after I got to Vietnam in June 1968, I saw his name in the KIA list in Army Times. Dick Fox was an only son and a great loss.
