08 Aug 2004 Although he is listed on the Wall as being from Denver, Lawrence lived in McKinney, Texas, with his grandmother, Mrs. Mamie Pearson. He was a good kid, loved to play football and basketball. He was a good soldier, a paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne "Skysoldiers", and was killed in action on March 3, '68, near Kontum. In this instance, PFC Jones apparently enlisted while in Denver, Colorado, although his permanent residence seems to have been McKinney, Texas.
