I wish to thank the following men, who were stationed with my brother Jack in Vietnam during the first half of 1969...

Darrell Jaggers
(WO1, a fellow Chinook pilot)

He drove from Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Cedar Springs, Michigan, twice to talk with us about Jack. He also provided me with a copy of an album made at their base in Vietnam. It contained 6 or 7 photos of my brother, Jack. We keep in touch by email.

Tim Staats
(SP4, Gunner)

He contacted me after seeing my memorial to Jack on another web site. He has sent me a copy of the actual 'accident' report which included 5 or 6 eyewitness accounts of the accident. He also sent me many photos of the base and the accident scene, which I requested. We keep in touch by email.

John Olsen
(CW3, a fellow Chinook pilot)

Supplies me with serious articles and some jokes. We keep in touch by email.

Rick Patton
(SP5)

Related his remembrance of Jack's 'accident'.

I am deeply indebted to these men for helping me honor my brother.

From the
STORY OF TAPS
Narrated by John Wayne
Words by John Mitchum

I pray that our heavenly Father
may assuage the anguish of your bereavement,
and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost,
and the solemn pride that must be yours,
to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the
altar of FREEDOM.
Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)
Letter to Mrs. Bixby of Boston,
who lost five sons killed in battle.
Written 21 Nov 1864

This is to Honor all seven men of the 196th Assault Support Helicopter Company who were killed that day...

Sleep in peace, comrades dear... God is near ...
I lost a very dear friend that day:
Sp4 Arthur Richard Allison.

You are now serving in GOD'S ARMY...

MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE

"They answered their country's call to arms, into battle they did go,
Where their final destination was, no one will ever know.
May their final resting place, under some unknown sod, be forever hallowed,
For it is known only unto God."

From a friend of Arthur Richard Allison,
Mrs. Nancy L. Brooks
