There were four men who were struck by a booby trap while on patrol. One man entered the service when his National Guard Brigade was mobilized and the other three men had been drafted into the service. The four men killed, all from D Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division were:
Terry was awarded an Army Commendation in July 1969 according to Tropic Lightning Newspaper and his burial marker shows he was awarded a Bronze Star and 1st Oak Leaf Cluster and two Purple Hearts for his time in Vietnam since arriving on October 25, 1968. CPL Terry Edward Toole was survived by his mother Helen Grace Bergan Toole (1910-1995) and father Paul Thomas Toole (1910-1991). They are all buried in Section 40, Lot 8 in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming, Cayuga County, New York. - - The Virtual Wall, 23 May 2021
